The Driver

Hey guys, i'm The Driver, otherwise known by my Xbox LIVE Gamertag, Vanguard One. Some of you may know me as the noobish guy that can't kill online, others may know me as the lucky guy who gets the occasional double kill over the wall with a shotgun. Most of all, i'm the shadow that reflects against the wall behind the locust. The teeth of the chainsaw flashing against the night sky, the glow of a helmet faceplate.

Friends include SILAS 001 and scissors4hands. And for the record, if you ask them, I'm NOT Canadian.

My OC Character Bio

Harrison was born on Sera 49 years before the events in Gears of War's main story. His father, Tobias Jay Harrison, was the last bastion of a long line of Coalition footsoldiers. Tobias taught his young son the way of the gun early in life, around ten years of age. His earliest recorded attempt at shooting was with a surplus Snub Pistol Tobias had brought home from the field.

Ten years passed from that day, and a twenty-year-old William went off to war. He signed up to the Coalition Army a young and vital man. However, when on patrol one day, his squad (Kappa Squad) was ambushed by paramilitary forces. He was the only survivor of the attack, and he lost three fingers- his index, pinky and thumb- when a grenade went off near the APC he was riding in. Believing he had been screwed over, Harrison came close to quitting- when he was re-assigned to the more combat-ready Rho Squad and deployed, once again, to the field. It was here that Harrison returned the favor for the Massacre of Kappa Squad. He was responsible for killing seven paramilitaries and rescuing one of his squad members, who was later awarded a Purple Heart. Harrison was awarded a Silver Star for the operation, and the Paramilitaries were thwarted. Harrison didn't mind the down time. In fact, he took a wife and had children and started a next-to-normal life. It was there he lived for several years, blissfully unaware of what was going on just below his feet.

When Harrison turned 35, the Locust were not much more than a few inches below city center. Harrison, then a Staff Sergeant, was assigned to a lucky patrol that went straight through City Center. The Locust then surfaced and, with the help of their Corpser, wiped out three of Harrison's five squadmates. Only with the help of the Hammer of Dawn and co-ordinated Raven attacks did the force go down.

14 years later, Harrison was still combatting the Locust, only on a new level. Instead of just being a squad member, he was promoted to First Lieutenant and given command of Zeta Squad, which later regained control of Jacinto Plateau and the outskirts of the city. Even today, Harrison hasn't left the battlefield and won't rest until he has seen all of the Locust killed down to the last Drone, Berserker and Theron Guard.
